Doodle 4 -- Zeppelin by amirafox
Doodle 4 -- Zeppelin
I started this piece about two weeks ago and finally got around to finishing it.

I've been trying to draw things that are a bit more challenging for me and out of my comfort zone.

I saw this pic: huangstudio.com/wp-content/upl… , and I knew I just had to draw it.

I definitely didn't capture the reference picture's scope of realism, but I feel as though I was able to play on the illustrative aspects of the piece.

My drawing is certainly a simplification of the reference image. That being said, I'm relatively content with how the shading on the fabrics turned out and with some of the other minor details of the piece.

~ 3 1/2 hours, mechanical pencil on 5.5 x 8.5 inch Toned Gray Strathmore paper

Edited with Pixlr Express -- I was trying to go for a rustic look -- like something out of a treasure map or old document.

All credit goes to the creators of WoW for the original design.

Doodle 3 -- Asami by amirafox
Doodle 3 -- Asami
I finally had some time this weekend to draw!  Unfortunately, I'm completely out of practice.  I began drawing a landscape but ended up losing my patience, so I wanted to start with something simpler.

Here are some sketches of Asami Sato from LoK!

I need to work on shading hair, and I need to improve my pen strokes -- they're all over the place right now and really uneven...  I guess I could also work on overall composition...

But practice is practice!

Hey!  I know I've been very inactive this past year, and I want to try and make it up this summer.  I'm taking summer classes, so I don't have too much time on my hands during the weekdays (or really the weekends, for that matter).  The class I'm currently taking has a pretty heavy workload, and I won't be finished with it until next week (that means studying for quizzes and the final, eek). I'll have next weekend off, though, and I'm hoping I can spit out some quick pieces.  I'm planning on drawing/sketching that entire weekend, and I'm going to head to the art store downtown and pick up some art supplies.  After that weekend, I start another class, but hopefully by that time I'll manage my time a bit better. If not, I'll be home for a couple of weeks before school starts, and I'll definitely be working on the majority of my unfinished pieces.

Here's what I hope to work on:

-Perspective
-Architecture and landscape
-Quick, semi-realistic doodles (some might feature fanart -- I haven't decided yet)
-Anatomy (the two main things I want to work on this summer are architecture and anatomy because they're still the hardest things for me to draw)
-Realistic portraits
-Fashion?
-Dragons (of course)
-Pattern-making/vector images (Adobe Illustrator is AMAZING. I'm still a beginner, but I've been watching some tutorials in my free time, and honestly, it's is so much more versatile than Photoshop Elements.  I don't have Photoshop CS6, so I can't compare Illustrator CS6 to it.  But damn, Illustrator has a TON of nifty features.)

I'm not going to take any requests this summer (because I always fail to properly gauge when I'll finish requests), but feel free to suggest a topic (preferably one that overlaps with the topics listed above)!  I might end up including the suggestion in some of my sketches!

Yet another doodle from my Toned Gray Strathmore sketchbook.  I'm not too proud of this piece, mostly because the perspective is a bit off and the bridge has too steep of an arch.  It looks too cartoonish for my liking, but I guess this means I need to practice drawing things other than portraits.

I worked on this piece a bit last Friday and finished it up today.  All my .02 Micron pens ran out of ink, so I was forced to use my .005 Micron pen.  As a result, however, I wasn't able to get the lines as thick as I wanted in some places.

Hi! I'm super glad that I took the time to look at some of your work. I like you! Hahaha, you seem like a super rad person.
You're also cool.
That is all.

P.S. I hope this wasn't awkward. I just had to say it.
