Oh man, these drawings were such a challenge! I really wish I had drawn more these past two years. Damn, drawing was so fluent and easy during summer of 2013. I hope I can get back to that level and even surpass it this summer. I also need to install Illustrator and Photoshop on my other laptop...

There are so many things I want to do this summer, but I have to make sure I dedicate enough time to art.

I can't explain why, but art is one of the most important things in my life. I think it has been ever since I joined DeviantArt five/six years ago. I've been so inspired by other people's works, and I continuously aspire to reach the experts' level.

I know it's easy to give up on art when something doesn't look right or you're running into problems with perspective (a frequent problem of mine). It's also easy to give up on it when you're in college and aren't majoring in art or taking any art classes -- at least it is for me. I have a bad habit of feeling guilty whenever I draw during college because I feel like I should be doing something more productive.  I always feel like I'm slacking off whenever I draw. However, I realize that drawing is productive in itself, as you're creating, almost sculpting, something out of your imagination or from an image.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that art has formed part of my personality over the past several years, and I don't want to give up on it. I also think others shouldn't give up on it, even if it's just a hobby :)

Really needed to practice drawing lips

Probably spent roughly 5-6 hours on all of these, and used pencil, .005 micron pen, Artist's Loft markers, Copic Markers, and white out

Just wanted to see how my style has changed over the years. I don't think it's changed too much, but onwards to improvement!

Quick WIP of a 2015 version of…

I want to see how my style has changed over the years.

Will upload the finished version soon!

Need to practice more!
Mikasa by amirafox
Wow, I am SO out of practice, guys, but I'm in the process of getting back to drawing on a frequent basis.

It's been a while since I've watched SnK, but rumors of a second anime season coming out have gotten me back into it.

Here's a quick sketch of Mikasa! :)

I didn't use any refs, so I know the anatomy and outfit are a bit off.

Left version: pencil
Right version: inked
2 hours with inking and editing, pencil and Micron pens

Just a couple of sketches from last year (top middle) and some doodles I did in class and for fun this year. The middle piece is one of my favorites -- I worked on it in class, but I wasn't able to pick it up after class ended. The assignment was to create positive and negative space, but I just enjoyed creating sharp edges and patterns with the exacto knife :P

Media: .005 micron pens, .05 gel pen, exacto knife, butcher paper, pencil, brush micron pen
Hey!  I know I've been very inactive this past year, and I want to try and make it up this summer.  I'm taking summer classes, so I don't have too much time on my hands during the weekdays (or really the weekends, for that matter).  The class I'm currently taking has a pretty heavy workload, and I won't be finished with it until next week (that means studying for quizzes and the final, eek). I'll have next weekend off, though, and I'm hoping I can spit out some quick pieces.  I'm planning on drawing/sketching that entire weekend, and I'm going to head to the art store downtown and pick up some art supplies.  After that weekend, I start another class, but hopefully by that time I'll manage my time a bit better. If not, I'll be home for a couple of weeks before school starts, and I'll definitely be working on the majority of my unfinished pieces.

Here's what I hope to work on:

-Architecture and landscape
-Quick, semi-realistic doodles (some might feature fanart -- I haven't decided yet)
-Anatomy (the two main things I want to work on this summer are architecture and anatomy because they're still the hardest things for me to draw)
-Realistic portraits
-Dragons (of course)
-Pattern-making/vector images (Adobe Illustrator is AMAZING. I'm still a beginner, but I've been watching some tutorials in my free time, and honestly, it's is so much more versatile than Photoshop Elements.  I don't have Photoshop CS6, so I can't compare Illustrator CS6 to it.  But damn, Illustrator has a TON of nifty features.)

I'm not going to take any requests this summer (because I always fail to properly gauge when I'll finish requests), but feel free to suggest a topic (preferably one that overlaps with the topics listed above)!  I might end up including the suggestion in some of my sketches!
  • Mood: Neutral
  • Listening to: Youtube Jazz Study Music
  • Watching: The Legend of Korra :D
  • Drinking: Hazelnut Latte

Good days, bad days -- we must persist in the face of challenge if we ever hope to improve.
"We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit." -- E.E. Cummings

Hi! I'm super glad that I took the time to look at some of your work. I like you! Hahaha, you seem like a super rad person.
You're also cool.
That is all.

P.S. I hope this wasn't awkward. I just had to say it.
