BACKGROUND
-----------------
I drew this piece a while back for my friend's birthday. Last summer, my friend requested that I reproduce 's (by the way, please check out this artist's work if you haven't! He is one of my favorite artists, and I always find myself learning a bit about lighting, dynamic poses, and painting technique from his pieces.) "Saber":

Was gonna do an oil paint version of the piece but was too lazy to go out and buy some oil paints. Guess the media? (Hint: answer is below).
THOUGHTS
-------------
I absolutely love the right arm (cannon? Sorry Fate Zero fans, I don't watch this show.) turned out. I didn't think I'd be able to produce reflective surfaces well, given the media I was working with and also since I don't have much experience drawing such surfaces.
I'm definitely not as happy with the right arm -- it looks a lot flatter and less realistic.
I think the overall piece does look a little flat due to the media's saturated color. Obtaining dimension and depth is something I want to work on extensively going forward, especially since I want to achieve a semi-realistic art style.
MEDIA + TIME
-----------------
~15 hours, markers, watercolor pencils, blue ballpoint pen, and liquid white out on Elmer's 20" x 30" foam board
